A wonderful and rare opportunity has arisen! We are now recruiting for a talented Head Pastry Chef to join our beautiful property in the heart of Mayfair.

We are looking for a dynamic individual focused on innovation and creativity. 

You will play a central role in shaping the afternoon tea menu, dessert menu, amenities, overall management of the pastry kitchen operations, and contributing to the success of our culinary offerings.

As a Head Pastry Chef you will be responsible for a small team of 3 and will be reporting to the Executive Head Chef.

About us: Our delightful Original Sweetshop Afternoon Tea at The Chesterfield Mayfair, recipient of the prestigious Award of Excellence at the 2023 Afternoon Tea Awards, promises to both adults and children delightful sweetshop-themed cakes, scrumptious chocolate scones and mouthwatering finger sandwiches.

The Chesterfield Hotel, the Red Carnation Hotel Collection’s first property bought in 1984, is based in the heart of exclusive Mayfair. This classic four star boutique hotel consists of 107 bedrooms as well as 7 Meeting Rooms, Butler’s Restaurant, The Terrace Bar, and our Conservatory where we offer our guests a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and exquisite food and drink.

What are the key responsibilities of a Head Pastry Chef?

  • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
  • Ensure compliances with all HACCP standards and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Involvement in menu development with focus on achieving profitability targets
  • Ensure dishes are created to an exceptional standard using fresh ingredients
  • Actively involved in training and developing the kitchen team
  • Working closely with the Executive Chef

 

What are we looking for in a Head Pastry Chef ?

  • Previous experience in a similar role 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Sound awareness of menu planning and development
  • A track record of training and developing individuals to achieve their best
  • A strong understanding of how to keep costs in line and wastage kept to a minimum, and have excellent health & safety knowledge
